yes thats true, i remember my first day learn php, at that time was 
transition time from 3 to 4, and i was confuse which one i should learn 
3 or 4, learning curve became more high, cause i have to compare it 
between those two version, which one is more suitable for me, learn 3 is 
more easier but for future compat is not good, while learn 4 is more 
complicated, and at that time less hosting provider support for 4.

so i believe this "versions interest of conflict" is become .. what 
shall i say "the bottle neck" for new developer to learn php.
