I was about to test it, but ran into a glitch: It is a little annoying that it fails if one doesn't have the latest version of autotools. My Mandriva 2007.1 systems from only 6 months ago stll have version 2.59, and I suspect it will be another year or so before one can count on having 2.61 as a majority of linux machines. ./configure runs normally, but then [11] make cd . && /bin/sh /usr/local/src/gd-2.0.36/config/missing --run autoheader aclocal.m4:17: error: this file was generated for autoconf 2.61. You have another version of autoconf. If you want to use that, you should regenerate the build system entirely. aclocal.m4:17: the top level autom4te-2.5x: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 63 autoheader-2.5x: /usr/bin/autom4te failed with exit status: 63 make: *** [config.hin] Error 1 [12] autoconf --version autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.59 Wouldn't it be better to build the distro tarball on a machine with autotools 2.59, so that it is usable on a larger number of configurations? regards, Ethan -- Ethan A Merritt Biomolecular Structure Center University of Washington, Seattle 98195-7742
