That's what I thought too. I test (and did the test for this package)
on a Etch VM here which does not even the autotools installed, the
build and install went fine. I build the tarball using cpack after
having generated a fresh configure script using bootstrap.sh.

To get the makefiles I have to run configure or can it be done without
running configure?
