  Ah, thanks.  I eventually did find the GD win32 latest zip file, but
mistakenly believed that *.lib files were for MS visual studio only.
To my surprise they linked fine with MinGW, and now I can can compile
and run GD programs.

  GD is excellent in its simplicity and portability, thanks for maintaining it!
