Does max 3 minutes of backup time daily at 4 am (CET) qualify for „frequently randomly unavailable”? BTW this is 99,85% SLA level. We will try to make it 100% to not flustrate any Polish PHP programer at 4 am ;)

But what about BGP or network problems between the server that is checking and the mirrors? BGP takes sometimes up to 3-5 minutes to propagate new routes on the Internet. The mirror will not be visible from NL network, but users from PL will have access to our mirror via domestic network without a problem. And this is Europe. Think f.ex. Asia.

I think this proces needs some tuning. Mayby recheck the mirror few times during 10-15 minutes and than sound the alarm if it’s still offline?

PS. I have lunched pl1.php.net as our local copy of php.net after one time php.net was offline or not working OK for 2 days. 2 working days! During working hours, not 4 am :)
