You cannot argue that orange juice is better then oranges just because > you need orange juice. PDO is not a replacement for generic drivers since it STILL requires a wrapper such as ADOdb to provide the necessary SQL abstraction. Simply 'abstracting' the data types was not a problem before PDO came along, and now we have even more wrapper layers simply because PDO is not a solution to the whole problem, only messing around with a bit of it ... incompletely. Had the effort been put into incoporating the ADOdb layer fully into PHP which was the working alternative at the time we would not be having the discussion 10 years on into how to fix the problems. -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk Rainbow Digital Media - http://rainbowdigitalmedia.co.uk
