Fair enough BUT... if after X period of time, no one can get Pear::DB to run
faster, are you open at that point to punt and put in DB_Sql?  Or if not,
then can you please provide your reasoning.  (Other than "because I said
so." :))

  I favour the API of PEAR/DB over the one of DB_Sql. And, yes, I worked a
long time with DB_Sql before.
