I'll tell you what I am going to do. Daniel Beckham worked on a lot of 
PHPDocs a few years ago. He works at dealnews with me. I am going to 
turn him onto the doc part and I am going to work on patching the 
extension. He is more familiar with the structure of the documentation 
than I am and can probably get you the patch for docs you want/need to 
get the documentation updated. That may speed up the process some.

Heh, I spend a lot of time worrying about php and memcached. So, I kind 
of have to figure it all out.
