I don't want to bring back that discussion.  Rest assured that there were
plenty of opportunities to get me a CVS account.  It was Rasmus that told
me to post a feature request report with my HTTP PUT support patch instead
of getting me a CVS account to let me do it. The patch was left rotten in
the bug database for months until Jim had a go at it and integrated it.

I understand your good intentions to make this not look like it was not
personal.  But there is no excuse for Rasmus.  He didn't grant me a CVS
account because he never wanted to. But lets gets over this because this
discussion leads nowhere.

Now that you managed to grant me a CVS account (thank you), I can imagine
how heated must have been the discussion between you guys to step over
Rasmus pride to make him accept it. :-)

But lets move on.  I talked with Evan Klinger that told me that he added
code to PHP 4 to support calls like select()/listen() to sockets, but you
guys commented out the code to have it reimplement somehow more convinient.
What's the status of that?  I really could use those functions for many
interesting purposes that are useful for Web developers (backend servers
without needing Web servers and other sorts of TCP deamons).

Another possibly related issue is SSL support to socket connections.  I've
been having lots of requests from users of an HTTP class that I developed
in PHP to support SSL. I can't do it before SSL connections are supported
in PHP. Even Klinger told me that he looked at it but he doesn't have much 
time to dig into the scarce documentation and examples of OpenSSL.  Is
anybody else working on that or shall I move on with that?
