I'm with hannes on this one.. moving latest posts to the right side,
putting more "featured content" in the middle.
The question is for the featured content, what are people actually
coming to *.php.net websites for ? Are we logging this ?

We could show the top 3 downloaded PECL and top 3 downloaded PEAR
packages here under a section "Top Packages".
That would cover one of the three featured content areas.

As hannes said you are our designer :-P - I'm pretty good at HTML/CSS
so i'm more than happy to convert your design ideas into markup.
