Thanks for the feedback Adam. 2x2 is what I meant. Apparently my counting is not so good :)

Sounds reasonable to me. For the user-groups section, would that be a list of events?

I don't have much of an opinion either way. It's easier to design the center section if it's a big news feed. On the other hand It could end up looking a bit bland and there won't be as much opportunity to feature other information.

I agree about the height. If we keep them we could tighten up the download/blurb section a bit. Personally I hope the elephpants stay in some form or another. There are some technical questions in my mind about how we would pre-gen the collages though.
