I was thinking more a blurb of text along the lines of this:

User Groups
There are many user groups around the world where you can meet other
PHP developers and share your knowledge. There's probably one near
you!

Then have it link to the list. If we could geolocate reliably we might
want to add a link to the likely nearest group (beyond just the
country highlighting that takes place now), but I doubt that's within
our capabilities at the moment.

Yeah, I certainly understand the blandness point, but I'm just not
sure that we have enough information to fill a 2x2 grid long term
(and, importantly, change it often enough to keep it interesting). I'd
like to hear some other voices, though!

I'm not too concerned about generating the collages, personally.
Should be simple enough to define a narrower group on Flickr or
something based on the existing image group, if needed. We may well be
able to do some interesting things in terms of interactivity and on
the fly generation anyway.
