That's completely understandable. However, doing this forces us to
either (a) bundle libxml2 and libxsl or (b) require libxml2 and libxsl
to be installed on a machine in order to use PHP.

Bundling libxml2 and libxsl more than doubles the size of the
distribution, but since not all servers have libxsl... Well, you get
the point.

As you can see, it's a balancing act.
