Well, you get > the point. The bundle process is indeed complex and you will probably not want to include all the dependent libraries in PHP. But you can *require* them by default (as the libxml-2.5.9 is required by default, right?), to make Redhat and Suse and the rest deploy PHP compiled the right way (with the right extensions) from the beginning. I am somehow sure that they will bundle all the extensions (that are not marked as experimental), so libxsl will probably make its way in Redhat 10, but it would be refreshing to know that regular hosting provider that will upgrade their PHP 4 (or 3?) versions to PHP 5 will provide at least a very XMLish platform by default (that includes, of course XSL) > As you can see, it's a balancing act. A balancing act indeed, but the decision should be taken by understanding the reasons people will have to upgrade to PHP5 - and they are mostly the reasons of using the new OOP engine, the new try/catch error handling or the general performance improvement. All those are required because PHP is used more and more in the enterprise, and one of the technology gaps to the other enterprise platforms is XML and XSL. I know that probably not A LOT of people are requesting XSL support like I do, but this happens because they didn't have support from the beginning and they don't know how to use it (as all the rest of the major web development platforms have and emphasize the use of XML and XSL) Alexandru -- Alexandru COSTIN Chief Operating Officer http://www.interakt.ro/ +4021 312 5312
