That's why we would like to have support for XSL by default. I don't think, there will be XSLT support by default in PHP5. I'd like to have that as much as you do, but even making libxml2 a prerequisite caused some discussion on php-dev recently. Therefore adding another dependency (libxslt) is most certainly a no-go.
