HI Chris, I won't speak FOR Ben but having watched him run a few meetings now I can at least describe how the Nashville PHP group is run. Each month we have a speaker that will present 45-60 minutes. Before that, Ben gets up and runs through a 5-10 minute presentation on getting involved in the PHP community, irc channels, conferences, mailing lists, etc. After the main speaker, he will get back up and make announcements of things happening like Day Camp 4 Developers, CodeWorks, ZendCon, ConFoo, whatever is going on at the time. Then we are done. A group, any who want to go, usually heads off to a local bar for a drink and shop talk before calling it a night. The whole thing takes 75-90 minutes tops. IMHO (and I mean strictly IMHO) I am not a big fan of the "introduce yourself" time. It's just never been my thing.
