Patrick, I have a couple of reasons. The first is much like Daniel's. We want to run a regional conference in San Diego. We have gotten a lot of great response to the idea. Also, if we are going to take donations from businesses, I think if we are a non-profit, then those donations are tax deductible. The second, taxes on any money coming in. I assume that responsibility will fall back on me, which is fine as long as I know up front and take that portion out to pay the taxes. There are cons as well. There has to be a board of directors. The board chooses the direction for the group, which may not be my vision. I am talking to a business attorney and will hopefully get more clarity. The last time I spoke to him, he advised not to at this time. Now, my main client wants to contribute to the organization.
