I own AustinPHP.net and DCPHP.net and just direct to the meetup pages. I 
just use an index.php with a header redirect to the right page. :)

Unless you have someone dedicated to the CMS, I'd recommend against it. 
We had one for DCPHP for years and it was pretty good if someone 
remembered to add the monthly meeting.
