In DC, we have the DrupalDC group that formed entirely separate of 
DCPHP... and has grown bigger in many ways even to the point of hosting 
DrupalCon in a few weeks.

Then we have lots (dozens?) of other groups like all the LUGs.  The only 
subgroups/sigs that we have off of DCPHP is the Beverage Subgroup, but 
that is 75% humorous.  ;)

More than anything, we've been trying to coordinate to let people know 
the groups that exist and where and when which events are happening.
