We (DCPHP - http://groups.google.com/group/washington-dcphp-group ) switched from Mailman (hosted by Tux.org, the local non-profit for the LUGs) to Google Groups for two reasons: * Search * Findability Having a good search for the archives was nice, but being findable by the larger internet is more important. If people have ego/keyword searches set up, public Google Groups will be picked up, so we've seen a good deal of "I happened to find you guys" sort of traffic. In the month since the switch, the subscriber count shrunk by about 40% but the list traffic has almost doubled. And after looking at the missing 40%, most of them were recruiters not received messages anyway. My 0.02, keith -- D. Keith Casey, Jr. CEO, CaseySoftware, LLC http://CaseySoftware.com
