The most notable changes in this release are the following:

-  Align the build system with common behavior:
   -  Install SONAME.
   -  Refactor *FLAGS and LDLIBS.  When a user sets those, append to the
      current flags, instead of overwriting.

-  Stamp the $prefix in the pc(5) file during `make install`, not
   during `make`.
