Re: Preparation for the v24.09 release

the merge window for the v24.09 has been closed. The release will take 
place by the end of the month.

A release branch, v24.09.x, has been created which will act as a release 
candidate. Any critical bug fixes should be submitted to the master 
branch and tagged with a "24.09" tag. Once merged, they'll be ported to 
the v24.09.x branch.

Regular development can continue on the master branch. Please remember 
to rebase your patches to ensure that ABI changes are tracked against 
the new release.
