I didn't get a chance to go through v3 and some holidays due to my new year.
But short update for some of the patches, is that after discussing offline with Michael and Matias, we will be taking the patches through master for now.

And soon I would be tagging master for 1.4 release.
I imagine that Alex's patches likely will be after 1.4 release.
