P4 hyperthreading unstable

I have Asus P4P8X motherboard (integrated 3Com 3c940 gigabit LOM) with P4
2.6 GHz CPU. Here is info from /proc/cpuinfo:

I've booted with 2.4.23 kernel with SMP enabled, and i get 2 CPU's; alas,
the machine suddenly reboots in random times: from 2 minutes to 1 hour.
Booting with nosmp and noapic does not help - it's stable only with the
old 2.4.22 kernel without SMP.

Is this P4 or a kernel issue ? Or i misconfigured something ? Please let
me know if i waste my time trying to get two cpu's with this configuration.
