Trouble installing Net::Twitter

Hello,

For some time I have been trying to install the Net::Twitter module from
CPAN in to my home directory (I do not want to install it system wide
until I know that the installation will succeed).  Unfourtunatley I am
having difficulty doing this and have tried all the work arounds I could
think of.

Steps I take:
 - Create ~/tmp/perllib/
 - Start cpan and let it auto configure.
 - cpan> o conf mbuildpl_arg "--install_base /home/robert/tmp/perllib/"
 - cpan> o conf makepl_arg "PREFIX=/home/robert/tmp/perllib/"
 - cpan> o conf prerequisites_policy follow
 - cpan> o conf commit
 - cpan> install Net::Twitter

Operating system: Debian 5.0

A complete transcript of the bash session is available at [1], I cannot
work out from this what the exact error was - so am unable to just post
an error messages.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
