The problem is now that my default conf in smoke is all OK if I delete $PERLIO
from the env. Choosing either PERLIO=stdio or PERLIO=perlio causes the two
failures in smokes.

A missing $PERLIO in env comes closest to most people's use of perl on Cygwin,
but still, PERLIO=perlio should work.

'raw' could help in certain cases, but should IMHO not be tested in smokes
