What's UML ?
(regarding the version of Test-Smoke : it's better to upgrade as new
versions are released, since the default config for testing
configurations may change. Plus other improvements, of course.)

5.8.x : did you mean actually the maintenance or the bleading-edge
version of perl ? (resp. 5.8.1-to-be and 5.9.0-to-be)
