This has been resolved in the upcomming 1.18.06

Yes it has been on my todo for some time, but I currently have no access to a 
machine with MSVS... As soon as I find some time, I'll try and arrange that

Would the hangs be while "PERLIO=stdio :crlf"? (I have this problem with gcc 
on Win32.) If so you can try the "defaultenv" option [Run without 
$ENV{PERLIO}?].
I can't realy do anything about hanging tests from Test::Smoke, but they 
occasionally occur on some systems.
