Well.  Now that I look at it, we were using DBD-Oracle-1.16, which is probably
ancient by now.  I just downloaded the latest DBD-Oracle-1.26 and tried again,
and it builds and installs just fine.

Thanks for asking me that basic question.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Yes, we have ORACLE_HOME=/opt/Oracle/instantclient_10_2.  I don't have
LD_LIBRARY_PATH set, but instead we put /opt/Oracle/instantclient_10_2 into
/etc/ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig.
