Is Publishing the Way to Go?

Hi everyone,
I have been wondering for some time now if I should create a Perl 
Module to help me on
my many Job Applications.  I also thought about submitting articles to 
Developer Magazines but
I have no idea what to write about.

The Problem is, what kind of  Perl Module and does CPAN need another 
module.
Ultimately, I would like to write one that is useful but feel CPAN  has 
its share of useful modules.

One more thing, if a Job requires "Extensive Experience with Perl", how 
would you
prove that you have "Extensive Experience with Perl"?
