Sorry for the repost if this get posted twice... Please, if I may make a clarification as to why I posted a job for an *inexperienced* developer. When I got out of college, there were precious few IT/Development jobs available in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. All the ones that existed required mounds of heaping experience or were not related to my area of interest. I wanted to be a developer, not a low-level PC technician. Nothing against low-level techs, it's just not what I wanted to do. After spending almost a year wandering as a technician, I found PlatinumTel. They were hungry for intelligent ambitious developers. They gave me a chance, just same as everybody else here. I've found it to be very rewarding. Yeah, the pay's not great. But I make more than every single guy I go the bar with. Those are my friends and the people I like to hang around. I don't care if I don't retire by the time I'm 30. I just want a challenging (and believe me it is) job where I can make decisions on what I want to work on and when I want to work on it. Now, we extend the same chance that I got to my fellow geeks. We want someone who is tired of being a technician and looking for some "real hard core work." As for the argument of looking for a "Junior" programmer, that's exactly what it is. I wanted to post a job description bereft of marketing hype and straight to the point. I failed in some areas, and succeeded in others. And as far as the "bedazzle ..." comment, I was looking for some examples. PHP programmers aren't usually perl programmers, but they can be converted. I am glad, however, that this job posting has generated discussion, which was the second reason for the post. I mean, seriously, how many job descriptions include the work "inexperienced"? As far as talent goes, just show us you are willing to learn. That's the key factor. There is a lot to the prepaid (or as the marketing people like to say pay-as-you-go) telecom industry, and we are expanding into every single market. If you come here looking for experience, you will get it. If you come here looking for a job in which you can retire comfortable in 10 years, you'll get it. The point is, PlatinumTel is a young company and we're trying to get today's youth involved. -Warren
