A few recent Perl Jobs postings had subject lines like:
[Perl Jobs] US-NY-NYC: Mod_Perl/Linux/Unix/SQL Developers (onsite),
United States, NY, New York
and before I looked at them more closely and realized that they all came
from the same company, I wondered if the formatting of the subject line
had changed for the better. Apparently not, so I'd like to propose a
format change. The above subject line might look at follows:
[Perl Jobs] (onsite) US-NY-NYC, Mod_Perl/Linux/Unix/SQL Developers
The general idea here is to pull the more important items to the front
of the line so that they will be visible even when a mail client only
displays a portion of the subject line.
And more formally in approximate BNF (looks like I don't have access to
the job posting form without registering as an employer, so the options
listed below might be incomplete or otherwise not mesh well with the form):
<subject> :== "[Perl Jobs] " <job-type> " " <location> ","
<title-as-entered>
<job-type> :== "(" <onsite> "," <terms> ")"
<onsite> :== "onsite" | "some" | "tele"
<terms> :== "perm" | "con"
<location> :== <ISO-country-code> "-" <region> "-" <locality-as-entered>
<region> :== <state-abbreviation> | <other-region-as-entered>
