landing a full/partial telecommute position

I've been getting quite a few calls from recruiters, however the one
problem I face is that I would have a 3 hour daily commute to work
onsite at most of the companies that are contacting me (1.5 hours each
way).

i've been trying to find a company that is open to my telecommuting at
least a couple of days a week, however most recruiters are tossing me
aside because of this request.

Has anybody been able to land a telecommute situation? Any negotation
tactics I should use or how to approach the issue, when timing is
right?
