After recently adding headcount in our Perl Engineering team,
we now need a SW Eng Manager to manage and lead design, development and
maintenance projects, meeting the scope, quality, time, and budget targets.
Additionally, this person this individual will manage all relevant
stakeholder expectations and relationships and regularly provide visibility
for the projects status.

Key Responsibilities:

Development Management
-
Set up and drive software engineering lifecycle for each project. 
-
Accountable for project planning, execution, monitoring, risk management,
resolution of issues, and achievement of targets. 
- Prioritize activities.

Technical Leadership 
- Lead the team to resolve technical challenges. 
-
Lead unit level initiatives to build technical competency to meet the needs
of the team or unit.

People Management 
- Attract, develop, and retain
talent to build and maintain strong, effective, and competent teams and
build their knowledge. 
- Structure the group in a way that is best suited
to the product/service development and maximize efficiency. 
- Coach and
empower the team. 
- Foster an environment that encourages teamwork, with
motivation and inspiration. 
- Responsible for HR processes such as
recruitment, on-boarding, setting clear goals and objectives, ongoing
performance management and feedback, development, and growth of team and
team members. Manage day to day employee relations. 
- Many of the
developers will be remote, so experience driving an off-site team highly
desired. 

Communication 
- Promote clarity and alignment with ongoing,
effective communication (up, down, and laterally) to the project team
regarding the unit goals and status, project matters, company-wide changes,
special initiative status, etc. 
- Strive for strong and healthy working
relationships within the team.

Desired skills:
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of managing teams building production
software
• 5+ years in software development skills, preferably Perl as
nearly all our SW engineering develop using OOPerl in a Linux environment 

 Preferred Qualifications  
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is
preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of major protocols as well as
engineering best practices
• A solid understanding of performance and
efficiency issues.
• Experience taking a leading role in building complex
software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
