Description:
This individual will play an important role in the
maintenance of existing Time Inc. web-related Content Management Systems
(CMS), and search systems.
Additionally, the candidate will participate in the
planning, upgrade and/or implementation of new or
enhanced systems and editorial site development tools.
 A strong understanding of database concepts and/or
experience with data modeling and architecture is a
requirement, as is strong knowledge of SQL. The
candidate should be highly familiar with web-related
concepts, such as client-server protocols, Perl CGI
programming and concepts, as well as client-side
technologies such as JavaScript or Java Applets. 

The candidate must exhibit strong interpersonal and
communication skills as well as demonstrate the
ability to work with both technical and non-technical
personnel on a daily basis and be able to balance
multiple projects.


Required skills:
BA or BS degree in Computer Science
Expertise in a high level procedural or object-oriented programming
language
Expert at Perl, CGI scripting, shell scripting
SQL Database programming skills (Sybase 12, Oracle)
Strong knowledge of UNIX (Sun Solaris) or Linux (RedHat) OS
Strong written and verbal communication skills


Desired skills:
2 years experience in a professional programming environment
Experience utilizing XML technologies
Experience with Vignette V/5, V/6 or V/7 CMS is highly desirable.
Experience with Verity 2.x-5.x, Endeca search engines
Knowledge and experience with open-source applications, utilities and
frameworks.
