Hypermedia Systems in Los Angeles is looking for experienced MySQL and
Postgres Database Administrators who won't settle for just another dull

Los Angeles catering to highly demanding online customers in both the
American and Asian markets. We custom develop and host many innovative
video chat, rich media, ecommerce and now social networking products. If
you're passionate about building and maintaining  high-end platforms
supporting highly advanced web based applications, we have a job for you.
If you're an experienced Postgres and MySQL Database Administrator looking
to your test your limits and advance your abilities by working in an
advanced, high-production environment then we really would like to meet
you.

The position is a contract position for a well-rounded Database
Administrator with four or more years of experience. Responsibilities
include development and optimization of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases,
configuration, integration support, monitoring, problem diagnosis,
maintaining data backups and providing data recovery as needed. The
position requires working closely with software engineers and developers
and systems administrators so concise communications skills are a must. The
DBA may also assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies
and procedures. Other responsibilities include documenting database
architecture and ensuring the security and integrity of the databases. They
will implement data models, database designs, data access, table
maintenance, and code changes.

Required skills:
Our ideal candidates need the following in their skill set:
* 4+ years of PostgreSQL/MySQL databases
* Performance tuning PostgreSQL/MySQL
* Assist development teams in optimizing for PostgreSQL/MySQL
* PostgreSQL/MySQL backup and restore
* Designing and managing PostgreSQL/MySQL database schemas
* Experience in security access control
* Full project life cycle experience
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Highly motivated, able to work both in a team and solo
* Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure


Desired skills:
Knowledge of PL/SQL, database replication, UNIX/Linux systems
administration, Oracle, programming skills (PERL/C)
