Posted: November 10, 2006 Job title: Network Administrator / Software Developer Company name: Carnegie Mellon University Location: United States, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Pay rate: Negotiable Travel: 0% Terms of employment: Salaried employee Hours: Full time Onsite: yes Description: Carnegie Mellon Computing Services is looking for a talented individual with experience in Networking and Programming, to become an important member of our Network Development team and participate in the development and maintenance of software used to manage both wired and wireless networks. This is a SAGE Level III position. Required skills: The ideal candidate will have three to five years experience in systems administration, systems programming, web development or network administration, and experience with: - Software development in a UNIX environment. - TCP/IP and LAN technologies, including detailed knowledge of TCP/IP, switching and router technologies. - Web services and database development using Apache, Perl, SQL (MySQL), XHTML, XML and XSLT. - Administration of critical core network services, including DNS and DHCP. - System administration of a network of 20+ Linux servers. Desired skills: - Extensive experience with design and development of large infrastructure support services. - Experience configuring network routers, switches, VPN tunnels, wireless access points and other devices. - Experience with internet routing protocols. - Experience with network management, security, and auditing tools.
