This is a great opportunity with unlimited potential for the right person.
The opening provides great flexibility, very competitive pay and provides a
never-dull, constantly evolving environment in which to show off your Perl.
In return, we are looking for someone who wants a long-term relationship
and who wants to be an integral part of a small, hard-working team of which
you would be the key technical and hands-on go-to person.

You would be supporting our companys legacy web application, a collection
of loosely coded CGI perl scripts, while our founder and CEO (a Perl
developer himself), builds the next generation of the companys flagship
product.

In addition, a key source of our companys revenue is integrating our core
product into our clients existing computer systems. You would be helping to
support and extend this integration code, and frequent communication with
the clients technical staff would be required.

The breakdown of duties and tasks is approximately:

- 30% support and troubleshooting of existing legacy Perl code
- 20% support and troubleshooting of existing client integration code
- 10% interfacing and communicating with clients regarding existing or new
custom integration code/projects
- 10% writing new code for client integration projects
- 20% UNIX server system administrative-oriented tasks
- 10% conducting technical research and/or technical tasks at the request
of the CEO


RELOCATION NOT REQUIRED.  You would work from home, or wherever you chose
to work and would largely set your own schedule. Of less importance is
where and when you work, of more importance is you can get the job done
skillfully and on time.

Required skills:
- Must have extensive experience coding in PERL with samples to prove it
- Must have extensive experience operating in UNIX environments (FreeBSD a
strong plus, Mac OS X a plus)
- Must have MySQL database experience
- Must have strong knowledge of Apache
- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to work BOTH independently AND as a core member of a small
team
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to meet stiff deadlines
- Must have leadership qualities 

Desired skills:
- Mod_Perl competency a strong plus
- Postfix experience a strong plus
- Knowledge of XML and XML-related technologies (XPath, XSLT) a plus
- Knowledge of common front-end web design languages (XHTML, HTML, CSS) a
plus
- Some experience with Javascript a plus
- Some experience with Flash/ActionScript a plus
- Knowledge of the Flash Communication/Media Server a plus

- Must be self-directed
- Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to work BOTH independently AND as a core member of a small
team
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to meet stiff deadlines
- Must have leadership qualities
