You could just lower the memory partition in the Finder, right?

If the default memory partition is set too high for the taste of a
savvy user, it's trivial to lower it.

If the the default memory partition is set too low, and a
not-so-savvy user is behind the wheel, they run out of memory and
wonder what happened.

I think it's better to err on the side of too high, especially in
these days of $30 256 MB chips.
