Type 0 validator\parser?

Does anyone have a midi file parser (app or script) that will validate a
type 0 midi file?

I have some drum patterns in type 0 file format that crash one of the apps
they load into (Session Drummer, Cakewalk plug-in, sessndrm.dll).
Interestingly, Cakewalk, itself can load the file. Saving it back out as a
type 0 file however doesn't "rewrite" the file such that it is acceptable to
the plug-in.

I examined the header of one problem file, and didn't see anything obviously
amiss.
