Yeah, not whole lotta going on in here.  But all hope is not lost.
In the latest Perl developer release snapshots I finally got something
done about the cross-compilation dilemma.  It's not much but it's
something: I'm now able to cross-compile in an Intel Linux stuff for
an ARM Linux, and in the end I get a functional "miniperl" executable.
Yeah, no "perl", since that requires building DynaLoader, and building
any of the extensions doesn't work yet.

I wouldn't say no to some tire kicking of the changes I made.  I tried
to be as generic as I could, but having only one cross-compilation
platform to test it on, I can't tell how badly I failed.

The latest developer snapshots are available at

	ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/languages/perl/snap/

or by rsync at

	ftp.funet.fi::perlsnap

It's a developer release which means that you have to Configure with
-Dusedevel (or answer 'y' at the right spot, if you doing it
interactively, without the -de flags).  Please read the section in
INSTALL about cross-compiling.  When it breaks for you, take a look at
the horrible shell script code in Configure that implements the
cross-compilation behaviour.

If there any other people listening who may have already forgotten that
this list exists, please don't hesitate to pipe up, let's get this
thing working on embedded platforms (VxWorks, LynxOS, pSOS, Chorus,
OSE, etc).
