I am presenting an hour information forum on Object Oriented Perl for
a department in my company. As an introductory topic, I want to cover
the advantages of using Perl, especially in comparison to other
languages such as Java. I want to bring this up as a quick selling
point for the language to encourage others in the company to explore
Perl for themselves. I already have the basic advantages:

Free
Rabid Development
No Memory Management
Portable (Unix, Windows, Macintosh)
Large Library Resources
Excellent Regular Expression and String Handling

I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions on the
advantages of Perl.

The target audience typically has a strong background in C or C++ and
some Java experience. Most of the contracts are with the government
and the projects are typically large scale information systems.

I would like to see the language used more in projects, though it is
unlikely to be every used as the primary language. I have been able
to develop small secondary applications and tools in Perl and find it
quite an advantage to either shell or C programming.
