10,375 BC is roughly the same time-frame as megalithic
sites found in southern Turkey.

There were no megaliths at the Greek site, but it was
fairly large and inhabited for quite awhile. "Civilization",
larger cooperatives, had arrived. While the Sumerian
cities are oft called the 'first civilizations', they
did not appear until around 5500-BC. The SEEDS that
eventually grew into these more urban civs had clearly
existed for at least twice that long.

The site had already been dated with radiocarbon tech, but
for several reasons that has a plus/minus figure. The
breakthrough was that they found enough wood and tree-
stumps there to use TREE RINGS to nail down the date
exactly.

WHAT served as the catalysts to push these larger
neolithic civs into the larger, more 'urban',
city-states are unclear. The fake-sci channel
says "aliens !" Apparently some fish-themed
god thing blew in to Eridu (today's Kuwait) and
laid out the basic how-to needed for larger
urban systems :-)
