Many years ago I read "A Twist of Sand", an adventure/thriller by Geoffrey Jenkins. It's mostly set in Namibia, and when I first read it I hadn't ever set foot in Namibia. I recently found a copy in a second-hand bookshop, and bought and re-read it, but thisn time after I had been in Namibia.
