The old driver? Not with newer kernels, no.

The machine has some issues. One was video: no 3D. Another was 
virtualization: the CPU lacks some instructions, and vmware refused to 
update. Then memory: only 8 gigs.

I had issues with intel drivers on another laptop. There were bugs which 
intel refused to solve. For instance, on my mini server machine: the 
mouse leaves a trail of pointers in the screen that blink. Cure is 
ctrl-alt-f1 and back.

My current AMD can run the few games I tried. Games that came with the 
distro. fsfg, penguins on ice, etc.
