James, congratulations on making a speedy fix. I apologize for being in such a rush to present the issue earlier. Tested OK in Audacity 3.0.0-alpha-Feb 25 2021, Commit Id: 803fe8 of Thu Feb 25 16:28:46 2021 +0000 This leaves us with a related issue: Download and unzip audacity project at https://www.dropbox.com/s/lbry0aokq8x60nn/abcde.zip?dl=0 On Audacity 2.4.2, open abcde.aup. Project opens fine and audio plays fine. Close. On Audacity 3.0.0 sees project in Recent File List from 2.4.2, but project fails to open with "Could not find project data folder" error. This is not a crash, but it is a regression on 2.4.2. Root cause of difficulty is renamed project and directory. - John On Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 12:58 PM Peter Sampson < [email protected]> wrote: > > > On Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 3:34 PM Peter Sampson < > [email protected]> wrote: > >> >> >> On Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 1:45 PM John Colket <[email protected]> wrote: >> >>> David, Peter, >>> >>> Thanks for your reports - now I can enjoy my day out of town in >>> peace. 🙂 >>> >> >> Logged as P1 regression Bug #2677 >> *Bug 2677* <https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2677> - Win/Mac: >> An AUP file can crash Audacity when opened in 3.0.0 >> > > James has made a fix - and I have just tested this as OK on W10 and Mac > > The actual issue was that if the AUP's data folder was > missing/deleted/renamed/moved > then this caused the crash in Audacity 3.0.0 RC03. > > In contrast in 2.4.2 this was handled gracefully with proper error > reporting - now the same > obtains with the latest alpha build for 3.0.0. > > Peter. > > > >> >> Peter. >> >> >> >>> - John >>> >>> On Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 8:12 AM Peter Sampson < >>> [email protected]> wrote: >>> >>>> >>>> >>>> On Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 1:04 PM David Bailes <[email protected]> >>>> wrote: >>>> >>>>> On Thu, 25 Feb 2021 at 12:46, John Colket <[email protected]> wrote: >>>>> >>>>>> Steve, thanks for checking.
