codec and boom

Hello, 1. With recording device usb selected I get no sound recorded 2. Bellow A below middle C I get bathroom boom described below: I use Windows 10 on an Aspire Switch 12 Audacity 2.1.3 Rode 3 microphone into Behringer XENYX USB mixer into the USB port; I use a USB hub port with four slots, one of which takes the output from the mixer. * I need at least one other for the USB mouse controller No - I don't use the computer's built-in microphone _The bathroom boom might be better described as follows: _ Quite suddenly as you move down from just above A3 to just below A3 the sound intensity falls quite dramatically; you might better call it a drop-out. In a day or two I'll post the recording I made.
