Keith,Does your mixer show as an audio input device in the windows device manager?
What other software might be open that accepts the mixer datastream? (Some background software may interfere with the operation)
If you rightclick on the speaker symbol next to the WiFi symbol near the clock in the lower right corner of your Windows display, select recording devices and see if the mixer is there. Also check out the troubleshoot sound problems at the bottom of the list.

   Hello,

   - With recording device usb selected I get no sound recorded
   - Bellow A below middle C I get bathroom boom described below:
I use Windows 10 on an Aspire Switch 12

 Audacity 2.1.3

 Rode 3 microphone
  into

 Behringer XENYX USB mixer into

the USB port; I use a USB hub port with four slots, one of which takes the output from the mixer.

   - I need at least one other for the USB mouse controller

 No - I don't use the computer's built-in microphone

The bathroom boom might be better described as follows:

Quite suddenly as you move down from just above A3 to just below A3 the sound intensity falls quite dramatically; you might better call it a drop-out. In a day or two I'll post the recording I made.

  Many thanks,
 Keith
