EAC doesn’t automatically do anything.  You need to tell it what to do; but it is powerful in that it allows you great leeway.  In part the string you place in the “Additional command-line option” under External Compression will allow you to imbed the cover art for those formats that allow it.  Since I don’t care about imbedding the cover, I didn’t include this, but in my notes I had the following, “%hascover%--picture="%coverfile%” under Flac.  You can Google for the setting string.  Or perhaps someone here can confirm the string context.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply, though I fear I have not been totally clear as to what my problem is. 

 

When I rip a cd, EAC finds the tag information as well as the cover art 

It applies the tag information, but does not embed the cover art 

It does, however, download the cover art to the same folder as the ripped music 


When I am done ripping the folder looks like the image below. 

 

In the past, I believe EAC would automatically embed the cover art in the tag data. 

It doesn't do that now and I have to embed the cover art that EAC found using MP3tag 

What I am asking is: 
Does EAC automatically embed the cover art in ripped songs .. in particular songs ripped to FLAC 

Is there a setting that I need to look at to get it to do that again.

MP3TAG works the same way on FLAC files as it does on MP3 files.  So if you don't have the cover art for an album, just download it (I recommend putting it in the same file as the songs), fire up mp3tag and choose the album directory (not just an individual song), choose all songs, click add album art and choose the image you have downloaded and save.  The album art will now be in all of the songs.

Most probably the used command line is not correct.
Use "EAC" -> "Configuration Wizard" to let EAC setup the Flac encoder 
anew. Using that command line, it will add an image to the vorbis tag 
(if an image is shown on the right side of the EAC window).

As you are using MP3Tag, it isn't your playback software that just 
doesn't show the tag. If MP3Tag doesn't show the cover (when having a 
single track selected), then the file is without a cover image...

The option "Add cover image to ID3V2 tag" is just for MP3s (and only if 
you let EAC write the tags - if e.g. LAME writes the tags, this option 
also does nothing).
