I think this could be the source of the problem, rather than the
interface.
Logic 8 uses a lot of resources.

A friend of mine used to have that i/f and I'm pretty sure it worked
with Logic.
Have you tried emailing M-Audio?
Personally, I sometimes use an M-Audio Ozone on stage with Logic9 /
Mainstage, and it works OK.
